Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA

Job Type: Part-time, multiple openings

Availability: 10–20 hrs/wk

Required: 2–3 weekday evenings between 4p–8p (Mon–Fri) and Saturdays (8a–11a & 2p–4p)

Pay: $20–$40/hr (based on years of experience)

About the RoleThe Academy Coach leads instruction for Volitude's academy program sessions, delivering age- and skill-appropriate volleyball training that helps players of all abilities build fundamentals and progress through the pathway. This role runs practices, provides feedback and encouragement tailored to each player's level, and helps evaluate readiness for advancement into higher tiers. Academy Coaches play a key role in creating a positive, development-focused environment that keeps players engaged and improving season after season.

 

Responsibilities

• Lead skill-appropriate drills and instruction for assigned academy sessions

• Provide individualized feedback and encouragement to help players of all abilities build fundamentals and improve over time

• Evaluate player readiness and provide input on advancement between academy tiers

• Maintain a safe, positive, and well-organized environment during practices

• Communicate with parents regarding player progress and session updates when needed

• Provide occasional substitute coverage for other sessions as needed.

 

Qualifications

• Prior volleyball coaching or competitive playing experience

• Strong understanding of volleyball fundamentals and age-appropriate teaching methods

• Familiarity with volleyball terminology, rules, or program structure

• High energy with strong interpersonal communication skills — comfortable talking with players of all levels and parents regarding progress

• Comfortable working with children and adapting coaching style to different age groups and abilities

• Reliable transportation and consistent availability for scheduled sessions

• CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or willingness to obtain)

• USA Volleyball Coaching Membership (or willingness to obtain)

• Ability to pass a background check

• High school graduate (or G.E.D.)

 

Preferred (Not Required)

• Experience working specifically with youth or beginner-level athletes
